About Dominical Costa Rica and your host Happy Feet Ballet! Happy Feet Ballet School is located 100 meters from the ocean in Dominical. Dominical is a safe, beautiful little surf town on the Southern Pacific coast (Zona Sur) of Costa Rica filled with waterfalls, beaches, wildlife, and beautiful close community of people! Many people living in Dominical area are originally from another country here to humbly experience a slower pace more down to earth life. Most of the Nationals in our Dominical community come from humble Costa Rican Coffee/Rice/ Palm oil/ Banana farmers, and Cattle Ranchers... Costa Rica is passionate about the arts and rich in its own traditional Music and Danza Foclorico!
Coming from out of Country? All students should plan to arrive the 7th of January. Plan to fly into San Juan Santa Maria International Airport of San Jose Costa Rica. From there there are different options on how to get to Dominical depending on if your in a group or coming solo. We can help recommend housing and transportation. How Can you Help? We will be inviting the local children and youth from orphanages and Costa Rican communities that need assistance, a chance in life... you could Sponsor a child and save a life by helping provide them this opportunity. There are many at risk children who face abuse, prospects of prostitution, and drugs. Happy Feet Ballet Directed by Heather Gamewell will be hosting this Intensive. Happy Feet Ballet is all about creating a safe place of opportunity for children to learn and grow in hopes to better or save their life. If you can help sponsor a child in any way whether with class attire, shoes, equipment, or financially make it possible for them to come (food, lodging, expenses), the more sponsorships we get the more children that need this chance in life can come. There are lots of costs that go into making this happen, if you can help financially or in any other way please contact Director Heather Gamewell at zonasurintensive@gmail.com .

"Last year was my first year going to any dance intensive and I didn’t know what to expect. Northwest Dance Intensive helped me improve my flaws more than ever. Unfortunately I had injured my foot foot a couple weeks before the intensive. The teachers definitly did not let this stop me from getting the full experience at NDI. I learned more in 3 weeks than I could ever imagine, such as the correct way to hold my body and how to use my muscles and lines correctly to improve my dancing. My technique has been better than ever after taking class with Phillip and Jehrin. I have also learned from all of the teachers to be myself while i’m dancing and that it isn’t about the steps, but its about how you interpret the steps in your dancing. This is a life lesson I will cherish forever. They were so understanding of any problems or flaws anyone had. I made so many amazing friends and had a blast in the dorms as well. I cannot express how much I appreciate everyone there for making me a better dancer and a better person and i can not wait for next year!"
