Session I – June 25th – July 6th
Workshop will be held at The Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA.

Session II – June 25th – 13th
Workshop will be held at The Evergreen State College and Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma, Tacoma, WA

Session III – July 9th – 13th
Workshop with Philip Beamish only, at Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma, Tacoma, WA

Pick the Session that works for you.

Session I – First 2 weeks of classes with our special guest teachers Stephanie Saland and Philip Beamish and others.  Students will be working on ballet technique, choreography and variations.  This portion of the workshop will be held at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA.

Session II – Combines the first 2 weeks at The Evergreen State College with the last week at Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma.  Making this a 3 week session.  This is for the more serious minded student.

Session III – 1 week of classes at Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma in Tacoma, WA consisting of class solely given by Philip Beamish.  2 hour floor barre followed by a 2 hour ballet class.  Students are in class from 9:30-1:30pm Monday through Friday.

The classes for the Northwest Dance workshop are held in the beautiful studios of  The Evergreen State College, Olympia, WA for the first two weeks of the workshop and the Metropolitan Ballet of Tacoma, WA the third week of the workshop.
All student housing regardless of location of workshop is at St. Martins University.  Students will be bused daily to classes.

Each student will be in class from 9:30am to 4:30pm with Saturday and Sunday off for the first 2 weeks and the 3rd week classes are from 9:30-1:30pm.

Classes include:

Ballet, Pointe, Variations, Beamish Body/Mind Balancing®, Choreography, Modern, Hip Hop and Injury/Self Care.

Due to the strenuous program, students should be in good health and capable of such a schedule. If students sustain an injury such that they cannot dance, they will be required to watch the class.

The daily classes will culminate in a showcase of the dancers work on July 6th.

First and Final Days

Registration starts at 8:30am on the 25th of June and classes start at 9:30am.

Classes finish on July 6th for 2 week session and July 13th for 3 week.  With the student performance on July 6th.

Students will be expected to vacate their host families or dormitories the morning of the last day unless otherwise arranged.  All belongings will be taken to the studio.

Sample Schedule

Do to the fact that enrollment can alter the specific classes given in a day, we cannot at this time post an actual schedule of the classes.  But below please find a sample of a day at the workshop.

A typical day for all levels will consist of the following:

  • 1 1/2 hour Beamish floor barre
  • 1 1/2 hour ballet class
  • Lunch
  • Pointe/variations
  •  Choreography

Student NDI 2011

Parking
The Evergreen State College requires a $2 per day parking pass to park in any designated parking lot on campus. Day passes can be purchased at parking booth located in the campus main entrance. The parking lot closest to NDI facilities is Parking Lot C.
St. Martin’s University does not require passes to park in dormitory parking.
Parking at Metropolitan Ballet is free on the side of the building, otherwise street parking is 2 hours or pay lot behind studio all day.
